Robotic Sorting

Application:

To identify, inspect, pick up and stack cards in stacks of 63 that will then be band taped together.

Solution:

A fully automated robotic system utilizing a main conveyor system to transfer the cards, 4 robots with dual vacuum cups to pick the cards up on each EOAT, 8 sets of stacking nests, and a 5th robot with dual stack pneumatic grippers to pick the stacks and present them to the banding system

Hardware:

  • Four 5-axis Fanuc Robotics LRMate 200iC/5H (“Scara Eliminators”)
  • Four EOAT with dual vacuum cups and high speed extend/retract cylinders
  • Two iRVision cameras with LED light sources for card ID and tracking on conveyor
  • Four Banner Vision PresencePlus upstream cameras to inspect printing quality
  • One 6-Axis Fanuc Robotics LRMate200iC
  • One EOAT with dual left/right pneumatic grippers to hold two cards stacks
  • Master PLC controller
  • VFD conveyor motor control
  • Color touch screen HMI
  • Ethernet  communications for data exchange
  • Welded steel frame with powder coat paint
  • Aluminum extrusion guarding with Lexan panels.
  • Fully integrated tape banding machine
