RoadRunner X-Plus

RoadRunner X-Plus AOI System

The RoadRunner X-Plus is a high resolution, off-line, image acquisition system used in many different industries.

The X-Plus  integrates a National Instruments (NI) motion control card, motor driven stage, fiber optic line light and image acquisition card with a 4K pixel 8-bit gray scale line scan camera and a 1394 Firewire camera to produce an extremely high resolution image.

Couple this with the DAC  interface, written using NI's Labview, and you have a very robust yet flexible system that can capture and then measure, evaluate, and report everything you'd want to know about your acquired image.

The X-Plus can produce unbelievable resolution images with a max image size of 564 Mega Pixels.  The imaging area is 18" X 24".  With a pixel size of .000875".

The system produces it's images by making multiple strip scans with the line scan camera and stitching them back together.  The area scan camera can then be sent to a defect location automatically for further inspection by the operator.

The operator has several options on what method of inspection to use:

  • Pattern Matching

  • Blob Analysis

  • Part Orientation

  • Part Location

  • Part Presence

From the image analysis, pass/fail status is sent to the GUI as well as SPC information.
